On Easter Saturday every year Tenby GC hold the Brooks Cup, a mixed Foursomes competition, which was the idea of A.J.Brooks, a commissioned officer at Manorbier Camp. This tradition started in 1949 and hopefully it will continue for many years to come.

This year the competition was played in bright sunshine with gusty winds, on fast greens so you might think finishing with a good score would be difficult, not a bit of it, not for the seasoned links campaigners of Tenby GC! The usual suspects were in the vanguard yet again !

2nd and 3rd places were hotly contested with no fewer than 4 teams scoring 38 points. Holly and Steve Watkins, Fair Ball and Allan Morton were out of the prizes on the dreaded countback. So that left Angela Gottwaltz and Roger Schooling in 3rd place, just behind Sarah Phillips and Jerry Whitehouse in 2nd.

Ladies’ Captain, Gill John and Rob Hall were deserved winners with a magnificent 41 points, the handicap committed have been informed !!

In his winners speech Rob thanked Heather Morgan for all the hard work organising the competition, and all 22 teams, a fantastic turnout, for making the competition such a great success.

Other prizes: 2s Holly and Steve Watkins, Gill John and Rob Hall, Pam and Steve Wareham.

5 couples won their entry fee back in the bag draw.

The prize giving took place in the lounge of our magnificent new club house, a far cry from 1949 when it took place in a Nissan hut at the back of the 18th green!

A reminder the next mixed event is the annual club match v Ashburnham at home, closely followed by the mixed Claret Jug event, The Mathias Thomas, on 26th May.
