On Sunday 11 August, The Rabbits competed for the Dilwater Shield, a 4-ball better ball Stableford competition typically held during the wet winter months, where players with ‘high’ handicaps are paired with those with ‘low’ handicaps.

Glenn Smith and Will Williams emerged as the winners with an impressive 41 points, while David Blackmore and Chris Smith secured second place with 39 points, edging out Steve Watkins and Nick Stretton into third place on countback.

Tenby Rabbits have two remaining Three Counties Summer League matches in the coming weeks: a home game against Derllys Court and an away game at Penrhos. Currently, they stand 7th out of 10 with 26.5 points, having won home matches against Milford Haven and Glyn Abbey, but facing defeats in away games against South Pembs, Carmarthen, Glynhir, and Garnant, as well as a home loss to a strong Haverfordwest team by 2.5-4.5.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Rabbits Section. To celebrate, there will be a Rabbits Jubilee ‘amended pairs’ Stableford on Saturday, August 24th, where Stableford points are multiplied together. The competition is open to both current and past Rabbits members, so if you’re eligible, please add your name to the Masterscoreboard.

Additionally, The Rabbits will compete for the John Cook Trophy on Sunday 25 August.

If any male golfer with a handicap index of 13.4 or higher is interested in joining up for any of these events, or participating in the Winter League from October to March, please sign up on Masterscoreboard.
