16 Ladies travelled to Bristol Airport for an all-inclusive 4-night 3 rounds of golf winter break in Agadir / Morroco.
The trip got off to a ropey start however when due to a junction closure on the M4 caused a two-and-a-half-hour delay and a massive tailback. This caused frenzied phone calls to the airport and EasyJet but to no avail.
Talk about a “worried” group, once we actually got moving it was a race against time and as we neared the airport the clock was ticking, good job Linda knew a shortcut. We had 7 minutes to get off the coach and run to the boarding gate.
We got on the airplane, very short of breath but very happy to board. A great flight over and once we got to our destination, we were very happy with our hotel, 5 star, next to a lovely beach, with fantastic swimming pools, bars and restaurants.
We relaxed on our first evening with a well-deserved tot of our favourite drink.
Our first game of golf was at Tazegzout, a tough course with significant walking between greens and tees, lovely views of the course and sea, the format was Individual and Diane won 1st place, Trevayne 2nd, Fair 3rd and Angie G 4th.
Day two was at the Dunes, a treelined course and as the name suggested plenty of bunkers, we agreed on a ‘no bunker’ day which was a good decision in retrospect, many and massive bunkers, again an individual format plus ‘blind pairs’. Winner day 2 was Diane, 2nd place was Ella and pairs winners were Mandy and Angie ‘L’.
Our final game was at Soliel, again a great Championship course, more parkland than Tazegzout, our format was teams of with 4 Mulligans available, 1st place were Trevayne, Georgina, Ella and Tori, 2nd place were Diane, Sue S, Gill and Mandy.
The hotel, our local transport and golf courses were all great and there is enthusiasm for a similar trip next year. I would like to give a special mention to Rachel and Andrew of Pembrokeshire Taxis who pulled out all the stops to get us on our holiday.
This was an Inaugural Winter/Sunshine golf trip abroad and it included established members and newer members to the section. Everyone got on well and contributed to a well organised golfing holiday. It just shows how well everyone in Tenby Golf club feel included and it’s great to see friendships develop and everyone enjoying such camaraderie.
