Tenby 1 vs Llanishen | Sunday 22 June

Tenby 1, captained by Mick Seal, hosted Llanishen GC in the second round of the Annodata Matchplay on Sunday. Llanishen had previously knocked out Tenby 2 in round one with a convincing 4–1 victory, and arrived in Pembrokeshire full of confidence.

However, that confidence was swiftly dented. In the opening match, Neil Thomas delivered a composed performance in challenging windy conditions to secure a 4&2 win. Alan Sayers followed up with an equally commanding 3&2 victory, giving Tenby a strong early lead.

Llanishen weren’t done yet, though, and mounted a spirited comeback, defeating both Mick Seal and Wyndham Collins 4&2 and 6&5 respectively, to level the tie.

With everything resting on the final match, the pressure was on. But Barry Neale rose to the occasion, cruising to an emphatic 5&3 win to seal the overall victory for Tenby.

Well played, Tenby 1 — and best of luck in the next round!
