On Friday, October 18th, the annual black-tie Vice President Day event was successfully held at Tenby Golf Club, graciously hosted by President, John Gillespie. A few words from John, below.
I had the privilege and pleasure of hosting what has become known as “Vice Presidents’ Day ” when the Sydney Hughes Trophy is played for. I believe, but stand to be corrected, that this trophy was inaugurated in 1965 by the then President , Sydney Hughes, so it is a long standing tradition in the club.
I would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event, particularly those who ventured out on the course in very difficult weather conditions of rain accompanied by gale force winds. My congratulations to the eventual winner, Austin Davies, who won on count-back from Neil Thomas. The golf was followed by a meal in the Links Restaurant where we were treated to excellent food and I would like to thank all the staff for their service throughout the evening.
