The prestigious tournament kicked off on Saturday 17 August at Tenby Golf Club under fine weather conditions, with just a slight breeze. Competitors tackled the first 36 holes, and while the course proved challenging for some, there were some standout performances.

Gethin Lillicrap took an early lead in the first round with an impressive score of 70. However, in the afternoon, James Howell surged ahead with a remarkable round of 69, setting the stage for a tight competition.

On Sunday, the players moved to Ashburnham Golf Club for two more rounds. The rounds at Tenby determined the winner of the ‘Golden Eagle Cup,’ which was claimed by Joss Edwards with a total score of 141.

Kieron Harman finished second with 143, and Ted Ballard secured third place with 146. Gethin Lillicrap posted the Best Gross score in the morning at Tenby with a 70 (after a countback), while James Howell recorded the Best Gross score in the afternoon with his 69.

The rounds at Ashburnham contributed to the Carmarthen Open, and combined with the earlier rounds, all four were counted toward the Trubshaw Cup, ultimately won by Rhys Williams.

A huge thank you goes out to the office and catering staff for their support, as well as to the volunteers, Gareth, Mark, Allen, Stan, Steve and Gethin for their invaluable help.

Special thanks also to the scorers, Simon and Irene, without whom the event would not have been possible.
