INTRODUCTION

Tenby Golf Club was founded in 1888, originally opening as a 9-hole course, with James Braid being commissioned to extend the course to 18 holes in 1907.

In recent years it has been extended from a par 69 to a par 72 layout, with several of the holes being reshaped, both to add length and to combat coastal erosion.

Close to the medieval walled town of Tenby, the course offers superb sea views over the Carmarthen Bay to the nearby monastic island of Caldey.

IT IS LITTLE WONDER TENBY GOLF CLUB IS REGULARLY CHOSEN TO HOLD NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The historic medieval walled town of Tenby sits high above a set of picture-perfect beaches and a pretty harbour, full of brightly coloured houses and hotels. There is a wonderful array of restaurants, pubs, cafés and bars, together with an abundance of hotels, guesthouses, whilst on the edge of town there are many campsites and caravan parks.

Not surprisingly in the summertime, the place is buzzing with tourists, never more so than in these times when staycations are more popular, and all this is just a short stroll from our golf club.

A COMMITMENT TO IMPROVEMENT

At Tenby Golf Club, we’re committed to a program of ongoing improvement, embracing the latest advancements in golf course management and technology. This commitment is a testament to our passion for the sport and our desire to offer an ever-improving golfing experience. Our dedicated Greenkeeping team work tirelessly to maintain the greens and fairways, keeping them in impeccable condition year-round. We understand that pristine playing conditions are essential for our members and visitors to fully enjoy their time on the course.

REDEVELOPMENT

In 2023, the club underwent a significant revitalisation initiative, supported in part by a loan from the Development Bank of Wales and Pembrokeshire Lottery, a grant from Visit Wales, as well as 10 private investments. This infusion of £1.7 million is poised to revolutionise Tenby Golf Club.

The transformation includes the establishment of a cutting-edge clubhouse, a new pro shop, the addition of five more dormy rooms tailored for groups of golfers, the introduction of a new boutique guest accommodation named ‘The Dunes’ and the launch of an upscale dining establishment ‘The Links’ led by the renowned chef Duncan Barham.

WB Griffiths, a construction and civil engineering firm from Haverfordwest, partnered closely with architectural firms Acanthus Holdings, Bullock Consulting, and Roger Casey Associates, along with local suppliers; Shoreline Interiors in Pembroke Dock, Janey Evers Interiors, KO Carpets, and others to carry out the site’s redevelopment.
