For the second year in a row Tenby were drawn to play Derllys Court in the preliminary round of the Welsh Team championships and as the match was to be played on a neutral course, Wales Golf left it to the two teams to agree on a mutual venue.  Although there was a difference in preference of venue it was agreed that the match would take place at Ashburnham and courtesy of the course was extended to the two teams on Tuesday 20 May.

Despite not being able to field our strongest players due to other commitments, the team consisting of Heather Morgan, Pam Wareham, Alison Daniel, Fair Ball and Linda Tordoff-Evans put in a great performance with all matches being closely contested.

Heather got the team off to a great start with a superb win against Derllys, setting the tone for the match. She was undoubtedly the standout player. With Alison securing a victory and defeats for Pam and Fair, the match was finely poised at two games all. The final game went right down to the wire, reaching the 18th all square. With Derllys safely on the green, Linda played her final shot, but heartbreakingly, the ball was never found, and she was forced to concede the match.

Although the match ended with a 3/2 defeat for Tenby all games were extremely tight and the team did Tenby proud.  Special thanks go to the fantastic support provided by Ann Collins, Louise Hill, Donna Kenney and Bev Palmer who gave up their time to trolley pull for the team, thank you ladies.

Our best wishes go to our friends at Derllys Court in the next round against Pennard.
