We’re proud to introduce a new Thursday competition for our Ladies Section, Mary’s Masters!

This special event is held in memory of our dear friend Mary Rowell, who gave so much to Tenby Golf Club and served as our Ladies Captain in 1987.

Mary’s Masters will be played every year on the Thursday of Masters Week. In true Masters tradition, the winner receives a special jacket and ours is bright pink! Mary adored watching golf and even attended the Masters twice. The jacket has been specially embroidered with her name and the Tenby Golf Club logo from her time as Club Captain in 2003, the first ever Lady Club Captain.

For those who find a full 18-hole medal a bit much, we also introduced a 9-hole competition with the winner receiving the Pink Scarf!

The Ladies Section sponsors the 6th hole, and last year we dedicated it to Mary. For the inaugural Mary’s Masters, the ladies were greeted at the tee with glorious sunshine and a small glass of Champagne to toast her memory,  just as the sign reads: “Champagne all the way!”

The first ever winner of the Pink Jacket was Nicola Anthony, who also received a beautiful trophy kindly sponsored by Mary’s family and presented by her daughters, Gilly and Sally. The first Pink Scarf winner was Anna Sutcliffe. Both winners will have their names added to the now-famous Pink Jacket and Scarf in celebration of their achievements.

Special mention goes to Angela Gottwaltz and Pam Wareham, who placed second and third respectively and also received prizes.

We hope Mary’s Masters becomes a cherished annual tradition for years to come.
