Tenby Team 2 travelled to Carmarthen on Wednesday to play their Ping Mixed match against Gower GC. The day didn’t start well when the Pro told  the visitors the clubhouse didn’t open on a Wednesday! Even though the team didn’t get their coffee fix, things improved on the course.

Angie Gottwaltz and Roger Schooling were first out against the big hitting Gower pair, and fought valiantly to earn a half.

Second out were Diane Gough and Ian Duke who were exactly the same handicap as their opponents, and this proved to be an even contest. Tenby were 1up on the 18th tee and the pressure was too much for the Gower player who drove his ball out of bounds, allowing Diane and Ian to coast to a 2 up victory.

In the final game, Alison Daniel and Brian Jones won the first 3 holes which gave them a cushion for the remainder of the round and the eventual won 3 and 2.

Tenby Team 2 now play Cardigan at a neutral venue before the end of June. Tenby Team 1 progressed into the next round as Milford Haven unfortunately had to withdraw from the competition due to one of their players being injured.

Thanks to the team for making themselves available and to Carmarthen for hosting the match.
