Tenby claimed a hard-fought victory over Ashburnham in the opening round of the 2025 South Wales Seniors Classic, edging the match by two games to one.

In his debut appearance, Richard Prys Davies teamed up with Steve Allen to deliver a dominant performance, securing a resounding 6&5 win over Jeremy Watson and Lee Williams. A fantastic start for Richard and hopefully the first of many victories in Tenby colours.

Chris Beecher and Ross James battled valiantly in the second match but were narrowly defeated on the 18th hole by Nigel Thompson and Norman Williams in a closely contested game.

The deciding rubber saw Allen Watts and Brian Jones take on Huw Dixon and Steve Rees. With everything resting on the final hole, Brian faced a testing 15-foot putt and held his nerve brilliantly, sinking it to seal the win for Tenby in dramatic style.

There was a small consolation for Ashburnham’s captain, Huw Dixon, who took home the raffle prize!

Both teams enjoyed a well-earned round of sandwiches and chips afterwards, a big thank you to Brendan for organising the catering.
