On Monday, Tenby A entertained Pennard Golf Club in the last 16 of the SWSC. The weather was glorious and the course was in outstanding condition for this matchplay event.

Club Captain, Mick Seal, and the ever reliable Glenn Smith were first out. They were 1 down after 3 but a birdie from Mick made it all square on the 4th. Glenn held the team together with halves on 5 and 6 and when he birdied the 9th Tenby pulled away finally winning 4 and 2.

Alan Sayers and Steve Williams never looked in trouble producing sparkling golf to cruise to a 5 and 4 win. They ‘ham and egged’ it leaving the frustrated Pennard pair struggling to win a hole.

The right and left hand combination of Ian Duke and Derek Cole made it a clean sweep for Tenby. Derek’s controlled fade meant he avoided the treacherous rough, putting pressure on the opposition, and Ian’s steady putting eventually sealing it with a two on 17.

Well done team, now onto the quarter final which is played on a neutral course.
