Last Saturday Tenby Golf Club hosted their friends from Langland Bay. It was very windy but dry and the famous links were in an excellent overall condition.
Tenby had visited The Gower a few months ago when they lost the match narrowly by 4.5 games to 3.5.
First out for Tenby were Captain Mick Seal and Paul Northam. They were defeated by Langland’s Vice Captain David Sparks and Steve Bond. Neil Thomas and Richard Ormond also lost to Blair Thomas and Owen Price.
Phil Young and Austin Davies steadied the ship by beating Alex Kamill and Mike Furlong. Young Jospeh Nand Lal and not so young Phil Goodridge enjoyed an excellent win against Tim Lillicrap and Stuart Henderson.
Martin Morris and Gareth Thomas continued the trend by beating Rory Gallagher and Stuart Bunford.
Nick Allen and Mike Anthony came out on top against Russell Halliday and Tim Hawks.
Rob Hall and Chris Topliss secured another win against Paul Cullen and Paul Wade. Steve Allen and Ted Buckett came second to Jon Bowen and Owen Cullen.
In the final rubber, Gary McNeilly and Dai Cope were easy winners against Giles Davies and Dean Scott.
Consequently, Tenby won their home leg by 6 games to 3 and thus the Steve Bond Cup by 9.5 to 7.5 overall.
Langland members thoroughly enjoyed their weekend in Tenby. They were all very complimentary about the course, the food and the hospitality.
