Tenby Seniors entertained Pennard GC in Round 3 of the South Wales Seniors Classic Bowl competition, where home advantage proved vital in a closely fought contest.

Ian Duke and Mick Disney were first out for Tenby against Mark Ryan and Paul Finch, and their match proved to be a real nail biter. There was never more than one hole in it, but Ian and Mick held their nerve to secure a valuable 1 up win.

Allen Watts and Brian Jones were next out and faced a battle royal against Dai Foote and Phil Jones. Pennard took an early lead and moved 2 up, holding that advantage until the 16th hole. A miraculous second shot from Allen Watts on the par 5 helped Tenby cut the deficit to one, but a bogey on the 17th saw Pennard take the match 2 up.

With the tie all square, everything came down to the final pairing of Tony Andrews and Ross James. Thankfully for Tenby, they were in excellent form and breezed to a convincing 5 and 4 victory, sealing the overall win and sending Tenby through to the quarter final.

The quarter final will be played at Coed y Mwster on 22nd July.

Both teams were full of praise for the after match food, with thanks going to the catering staff for their excellent service.
