Ross James kicked off his captaincy in style, leading Tenby Seniors to a dominant 7½ – 1½ victory over Glynhir.
Despite the glorious sunshine, a biting wind made club selection unpredictable. The course was in superb condition, with Glynhir Captain Andrew Bevan praising the green staff, particularly the lightning-fast greens, a challenge his team hadn’t faced recently.
Setting the tone early, Ross James and Chas Harrison secured a solid 3&2 win. The biggest victories of the day came from Allen Watts and Stan Hudson and Barry Neale and Brian Jones (with Barry doing most of the heavy lifting!).
Other Tenby winners included:
- Ian Duke & Phil Carpenter
- Lyn Miles & Des Stone
- Gareth Thomas & Steve Ruff
- Chris Topliss & Robin Hagley
Most matches were tightly contested, finishing on the 17th or 18th, meaning the final score could have been much closer.
After the match, the clubhouse buzzed with post-game chatter as both teams enjoyed a well-earned meal, swapping hard-luck stories at every table. The raffle draw, conducted by Phil Carpenter, saw his table scoop up three prizes!
Next up, Tenby Seniors face Haverfordwest at home next Tuesday.
