Despite bad weather last Saturday, 22 competitors played two rounds of medal to compete for the coveted Cobb Cup and Regimental Bowl.
In the first round, Roy Edwards led the field with an impressive net 69, followed closely by Gavin Scotcher with 70, Rhys Jones with 71, and Martin Spurin with 72.
The afternoon weather remained dry, allowing for some excellent scoring. Unfortunately, Roy couldn’t maintain his form, scoring an 85. Gavin Scotcher, however, continued his strong performance with a 74, and Rhys Jones also played well, scoring 73. Both players ended the day with a total of 144.
The best Gross – Cobb Cup was awarded to Gavin Scotcher for his outstanding performance, with Rhys Davies coming in second and Richard Morton taking third place. The Regimental Bowl for the best net score was won by Rhys Jones, with Gavin Scotcher in second and Rhys Davies in third.
The presentation took place in the clubhouse. Unfortunately, the cups were scheduled to be presented on presentation night and were not available. Vice-Captain Heather Morgan announced and congratulated the winners.
The main presentation will take place on finals day, Sunday 15 September, where many members will be present to fully recognise the winners’ achievements.
Well played to all the competitors.
