The Valentine’s Mixed Crystal Putter turned into a real test of endurance, as a biting wind off the sea made multiple layers of clothing essential. With players bundled up like Michelin men, it was a challenge for everyone, well, almost everyone!

In contrast to December’s Christmas Charity event, where 40 points weren’t enough to secure a prize, Sunday’s conditions meant that even 30 points looked promising, until the final few pairs returned their scores. In the end, three teams posted 32 points:

4th Place – Rebecca Naden & Simon Jones (£15 each)

3rd Place – Julie Tordoff & Nigel Ayers (£20 each)

2nd Place – Angie Gottwaltz & Roger Schooling (£25 each)

But the standout performance of the day came from Trevayne Keohane & Simon Gumbley, who stormed to victory with a superb 37 points, earning £35 each.

Nearest the Pin (2’s Club)

Three pairs managed a ‘2’, each earning £8:

  • Julie Tordoff & Nigel Ayers
  • Angela & Jon Large
  • Diane Gough & Ian Duke

Bag Draw Winners (£6 each)

  • Melba Smith & John Richards
  • Bev & Adrian Palmer
  • Sarah Waring & Ian Williams

A huge thank you to everyone who braved the elements. Fingers crossed for better weather at the next mixed event, the Brooks Cup on Saturday 19 April.
