Tenby Golf Club has a new Captain for its Dyfed League team, young Rhys Davies is at the helm this season.

Tenby hosted Newport Pembs in their first match and ran out comfortable winners by 6 games to 2. Jack Harries and Llyr Davies were out first and won 3 & 2 and Skipper Rhys Davies and Rhys Jones won 2 & 1. Richard Morton and Mike Davies scraped home 1 up.

Andrew Burgess and Richard Prout claimed the day’s biggest victory by 7 & 5. Martin Morris and Robert Morgan were always in control winning 4 & 2. Youngsters Joseph Nand-Lal and Olly Morris won 4 & 3.

Consequently Tenby came out on top in the first six games. However, the tail failed to wag. Ian Duke and Rob Wilcox went down by 2 & 1. In the final rubber, Alistair Knibb and Captain Mick Seal lost 1 down.

Tenby were scheduled to play Machynys Links on Sunday in the first round of the Jeff Harries Bowl but the course in Llanelli was waterlogged and thus the fixture will have to be rearranged.
