Sunshine, Solid Scores, and a Hole-in-One Highlight

A total of 178 golfers enjoyed glorious sunshine at the annual Tenby Seniors Open on Tuesday 8 July. With players teeing off from early morning through to late afternoon, the event showcased Tenby’s course at its best – praised by many for its superb condition, even if the rough proved challenging for some!

That tricky rough played a part in keeping scores tight, with 38 Stableford points proving enough for a share of the winning total. Four players hit that mark: Tenby members Meirion Griffiths and Steve Cole, alongside visitors Neil Rowlands (Swansea Bay) and Dave Male (Clyne). Meirion Griffiths claimed the overall prize on countback.

In total, 77 players scored 30 points or more, though plenty of tales of “if only…” filled the clubhouse afterwards.

Shot of the Day: Ted Bucket’s Hole-in-One

The undoubted highlight of the day came from Ted Bucket, who recorded his first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 6th. Celebrations reportedly continued well into the evening. According to Ted’s wife, if you’ve a couple of hours spare, he’d be more than happy to walk you through every moment!

Thank You to the Team

A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers who made the day such a success, from starters and marshals to ball spotters, raffle ticket sellers and score recorders. Special mention must go to Peter Turton, whose superb organisation ensured the event ran like clockwork. Peter, you’ve earned a well-deserved rest!

Thanks also to Tony Andrews and the team behind the raffle, which, along with entry fees, helped raise a fantastic amount for the club and the Seniors section.

Well done to all, here’s to next year!
