The Vice Presidents of Tenby Golf Club are all former captains, and sixty years ago the then President, Sydney Hughes, introduced a trophy to be played for annually.
Last Friday, President David Blackmore hosted this year’s Vice Presidents Day, which also included a moment of remembrance for former VP Keith Connor. Fourteen players competed for the historic trophy, joined by the President’s guests Ann Horton, Matt Moseley and David Hancock, making twenty in total who later enjoyed an evening of reminiscence, good food and wine.
In the competition itself, last year’s winner Austin Davies finished third with 37 points, while Captain Heather Morgan came second with 38 points, becoming the first woman ever to play in the event. The winner, with an excellent score of 42 points, was Allan Morton.
Sincere thanks go to all the staff at the club for making this special day of tradition possible, and to everyone who played and dined for ensuring it was such an enjoyable occasion.
David Blackmore
