The weather was glorious on Friday 20th June – unlike last year where the comp was severely rain delayed.
This long standing competition is usually held on the Friday evening nearest the summer solstice. Sam Ackerman – a man noted for his sartorial elegance, was the founder member of the Friday evening mixed foursomes in the 1970’s. We keep to the format where partners are randomly drawn so it adds to the fun.
Thank you to Beth McMann for doing the draw and setting up the competition. It was not a good Friday for getting a good turnout as there were many other things on, but a huge thank you to those that did support. No twos were recorded, which is surprising considering the talent on the course – so the extra £18 will be split between the captains charities.
The winners of the trophy for 2025 (and £17.50 each) were Gill John and Paul Northam with 42 points, pip squeaking Diane Gough and Martin Spurin to second place with 40 points and prize of £7.50 each.
Bag draw winners randomly selected were Simon Gumbley and Lynne Campbell and Ian Williams and Fair Ball.
Our next Mixed Event is on Sunday 13 July, the Usher Cup. Enter now on Masterscoreboard.
We encourage all to sign up, especially our newer members. If you don’t have a partner but would like to take part please tell the Pro Shop or contact Brian Jones on the Mixed Committee and a partner will be found.
